Molto is a compact cutlery set designed for cooking and eating outdoors. It responds to three practical priorities identified through conversations with experienced campers: portability, ease of cleaning and having somewhere to place utensils between uses.
A fork, knife, spoon and pair of chopsticks nest into a single curved profile for transport. When separated, an integrated rest keeps the utensils together and raises their working ends away from uneven or unclean surfaces. The result is a complete dining set that moves efficiently between storage, preparation and eating.
The design is organised around a repeated shallow curve. This allows the wider utensils to nest together, creates clearance when they are placed on the rest and gives each handle a consistent profile in the hand.
Handling and food trials refined the width of the grips, the transition between handle and utensil head, and the relationship between the individual pieces. Developing the complete set together ensured that ergonomic decisions also supported compact storage.
The prototype translates the nested geometry into 1 mm mild-steel profiles. Each utensil was cut and finished while flat, then formed over curved tooling to create the shared arc. The spoon head was pressed separately and welded to its handle, while the completed pieces were sandblasted to produce a consistent matte finish.
Straight-edged profiles simplify cutting and allow the parts to be arranged efficiently on sheet material. A fitted carry case keeps the set aligned during transport, while the separate rest prepares it for use at the campsite.
